Freckle + Chain is committed to a sustainable future and is actively working to improve the social, economic, and environmental well-being of the earth and our local community. Based out of Los Angeles, when you shop with us, you are supporting a local, woman-owned business and a company that values our environment. Here are some of the efforts we are taking to ensure our products, packaging, and shipping have a low impact on the climate.
OUR PACKAGING
The drawstring pouches included with each jewelry purchase are handmade by our founder. They’re made of high quality cotton muslin, which is natural, biodegradable, and reusable. We encourage shoppers to keep theirs for reuse – they’re great for travel and storage …and gifting!

If you don’t think you’ll use the pouch, you have the option to opt out when adding to cart to help reduce waste. If you choose to forgo your free pouch, the piece will be packaged in a small paper bag made from Kraft paper, a natural biodegradable and recyclable material.
We ship everything using recyclable boxes or mailers that are 100% biodegradable, which means they can be safely added to your compost. They are made of PBAT and modified corn starch and generate less CO2 than traditional plastic.

The tissue and wrapping paper we use to wrap our products is hand-stamped and made of Kraft paper, a natural biodegradable material. We are currently working to find a more eco-friendly solution for the stamp ink (ie: a soy-based ink pad). Stay tuned!
OUR PRODUCTS
Freckle + Chain sources the highest-quality materials to create a product that will last. All of our jewelry pieces are created with durable, high-quality gold-plated materials.

To help you get the very most out of our purchase, each one of our mask chains comes with rubber converters, so they can be used on both masks and glasses. Oh, and they can also be worn as a necklace – yay!
The fabric and vinyl we use to make our graphic T-shirts and crewnecks were chosen for their comfort and durability.

Our Bella + Canvas brand fleece crewnecks are made of 52% Airlume combed and ringspun cotton, 48% polyester fleece. Bella + Canvas’s ultra-efficient dye machines save over 24 million gallons of water a week, and their production is 100% sweatshop-free.

Our Comfort Colors brand heavyweight shirts are made of 100% ringspun cotton. Comfort Colors umbrella company Gildan is ranked in The Wall Street Journal’s top 100 Sustainably Managed Companies in the world.
